The V&A Waterfront & the Watershed market
Over 450 shops, from fashion and homeware to jewellery and curios, make the V&A South Africa's most popular shopping destination, alongside 80+ restaurants, eateries and a warehouse-sized food market. Need a quick coffee, a long lunch with a harbour view, or an after-work drink? It's all a short stroll from your door.
The Watershed is the home of South African design: 150+ tenants and 365+ brands across ceramics, textiles, furniture, fashion and jewellery, with exhibitions, live entertainment and workshops. On Dock Road next to the Two Oceans Aquarium, open daily 10:00–18:00.
Restaurants, bars & nightlife
If the Waterfront's 80+ restaurants aren't enough, the Bascule whisky, wine and cocktail bar at the Cape Grace, barely 100 m away, is a lovely sundowner spot. A 7-minute ride takes you into the city's famous dining and nightlife streets: Long, Bree and Loop.
At night Cape Town comes alive, with cocktail bars, jazz lounges, live music and late-night clubs, all within 10 km, and an easy ride home to the quiet of the marina afterwards.
Hiking, mountains & beaches
The city bowl is ringed by walks and climbs for every level, from an easy stroll up Signal Hill, the family-favourite Lion's Head loop, or the iconic routes up Table Mountain and Devil's Peak, every one with breathtaking views over the city and Table Bay.
And the beaches are world-famous: the white sand and electric-blue water of Camps Bay with its restaurant strip; the quieter coves of Clifton, Sea Point and Granger Bay; and Bloubergstrand's postcard view of Table Mountain across the bay, half an hour from the marina.
Day trips: Winelands, Hout Bay & Cape Point
The Winelands. An hour inland are Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl: beautiful historic towns surrounded by magnificent wine estates, ideal for tastings or a picnic under the oaks (~40 km).
Hout Bay. The jewel of the peninsula, wrapped in mountain peaks and sea cliffs. Drive Chapman's Peak for the 360° views, then lunch and a swim on the beach (~20 km).
Cape Point. The rugged south-western tip of the peninsula: dramatic coastline, untouched fynbos and wildlife (~40 km).
Stadium, CTICC & more
Cape Town Stadium. The iconic 2010 World Cup landmark in Green Point, a 10-minute walk along the Atlantic seaboard (~1 km), with concerts, rugby and football year-round.
CTICC. Cape Town's International Convention Centre is also a short 10-minute walk away (~1 km), which makes the apartments a favourite for conference visitors.
Add the Two Oceans Aquarium, harbour boat trips and the Robben Island ferry, all from the Waterfront itself.
